Walking around in the dark these days in my house is not for the faint of heart. There are plenty of shoe mines just waiting to trip you up and knock you down. Not only shoes but stacks of papers and books stand tall hoping to catch a toe and send you and the pile sailing. If it’s not these manmade ambushes it’s the corner foot board of our bed that will gouge a place in your thigh or knee area. The bed doesn’t even require the lights to be off to jump out and get you. Luckily for cell phones that give off a little light when you can’t find a flashlight to help you make it to the wall light switch before crippling yourself. The other problem is most of our rooms have similar assault areas. One way to look at it all is this, if anyone were to break in, they’d break their neck or leg before one of us sent them to meet their maker…providing we could find our gun.
Our house is far from being a Holy Temple, and yet there are spaces inside and out of our home where the bible is read, and conversations with the Lord happen. We don’t need to go to the temple or church to be in God’s presence. Because of Jesus death he removed the curtain from the most Holy place in the temple that was sealed off from others and just for the high priests. This is where they offered a sacrifice for the atonement of our sins. Hebrews 10:19 therefore brothers and sisters we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus.
Is there a place you spend time with God? A place where you feel comfortable, inviting him to join you? When these two things happen, a Holy thing can happen…a sincere conversation, a heartfelt confession of sin and the privilege of reading his word all in his amazing presence. Join me today….and turn the light on, clean up the piles in our lives and be secure and confident spending time with our creator.
Father, thank you for loving us, desiring a relationship with us and for proving this by sending your love in the form of your son. May we always have room in our hearts and our home for you. In Jesus name Amen.
