It Takes Two/I Got Your Back

Under the red umbrella, my feet propped on a pillow I sit and watch my birds. Quickly my eyes catch sight of two little peeps jumping, diving, and swooping together like contestants on Dancing With The Stars, minus the dazzling costumes. As I watch closely, I see they are after a grasshopper. This poor fella try as he may he can’t get away, as the two tweets tag team him. It doesn’t take the pair long to disassemble their breakfast and fly off.

No doubt that this task of gathering their grub would have been impossible for just one tweet, as the grasshopper put up an excellent fight. But because they worked together, they were able to quickly get the job done.

Having someone to help in our times of need is a blessing. When the struggles of this life get too heavy, or physical limitations overwhelm us, having a friend to lift our load is a sign that our God cares for us greatly. In return it is excellent for us to be that blessing to someone else. While relying on God first being the proper order in life, having a friend at your side can help maintain that order, and at times lighten your load.

In the police world, an officer who has a partner can accomplish much, and while possible that one could be overpowered more easily, having a partner “get your back” is a wise defense.

King Solomon reflects on wisdom and the importance of two in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work; If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Vs 12 though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Are You Part of Two or Do You Stand Alone?
