Patio sittin’ ain’t just for prayin’ it is the perfect spot for daydreaming. However it’s all fun and relaxing until you’ve sat there too long and the ants are starting to climb up your legs! Unless you use the foot rest and prop those tooties up.
There is much to dream about, mill over and scheme up but when we are raising our family we don’t make this time a priority it’s more like sittin’ time is few and far between if at all.
For me it was at least twenty years before I realized I had my priorities mixed up. Unfortunately, I was at a very low point and depression had set in. I didn’t know who I was anymore, besides the obvious wife/mother and I had lost my zeal for these very worthy callings. But, I had no other goals or ideas other than earning a paycheck, cleaning house and being on call 24/7 to my family.
My spiritual life was just as dead.
I was never consistent with daily time of reading, praying or just sitting quietly, giving God an opportunity to speak or to receive his healing for my broken spirit. And then just like that, outside I went alone and overwhelmed, numb and crying. As I sat I didn’t look around at that point and see all the yard, and patio projects that needed to be done. I sat there searching and I didn’t have to look far, I felt Gods presence as he pulled up a chair beside me …..listening.
Let me encourage you man or woman to join me……get those goals back and ideas flowing, you can do a little daydreaming while the laundry spins or as you push that lawn mower but always make sittin’ quietly with God a priority and yes even before family. This will rejuvenate your zeal for parenting, marriage and stamina in the work place, you will again know exactly who you are….HIS child.
Come to the Garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses…..you won’t be alone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yYWVizHslY
Father, draw us to you. Keep our minds and hearts on you. Stir within us again the desire to serve our families, as we allow ourselves time to dream and create. May all that we do bring you honor and glory. In Jesus name Amen.
