Digging through my purse, I came up with a handful of receipts to be thrown in the trash. (Woo I must be brave cleanin’ that thing out!) As I walked towards the receptacle I noticed most all of those receipts were from the coffee shops I like to frequent. When I thought about it for a moment I chuckled, thinking “too-da-loo to all the money I’ve spent on coffee” and in the old days I spent it on beer. I could probably have a new home built on what I spent back then and take a vacation on what I’m spending now. I decided it was time to put my money to better use. I do have a giving heart….for the most part. I give but I’ve never given and went without, or told myself “no” for the sake of giving to someone else. I’m not monetarily wealthy, but there is always room to dig a little deeper.
Mark 12:44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
I challenge you to join me as we “dig a little deeper” and give up a few coffees, sodas or beers a week, then take that money and give it away!
Lord, we are filled to overflowing with your blessings. As we dig deeper may we give to someone in need, may they see and feel your love for them, not drawing attention to ourselves…may we even give in secret, so that no one sees….so that they will know YOU are their provider. In Jesus name Amen.
I drink way too many sodas. Need to ‘dig a little deeper’! Always enjoy your blog!
