Have you ever had a day full of communicating? I mean the kind where you’re engaged in several conversations at once, like texting several people back and forth while sitting across from someone talking. That sums up most every day for me, communicating with others is important to me. But there are times when I need to be alone, shut off my brain from all the thoughts, talks, texts, social media and ideas bouncing around in there. [bctt tweet=”When all of this chatter is going on, the one person I need to listen to is drowned out by the rest.” username=”juliemahan63″] I will feel an emptiness inside me when God and I aren’t communicating. But since I’m somewhat of a control freak, I don’t take time with him because I think I need to be in the middle of what everyone else is doing. My friend Rhonda T. is the same way, so before she goes off to her quiet place she announces to everyone “If anybody needs me I’ll be with the Lord for the next ten minutes.” She thinks they can “almost” survive without her for that amount of time.
When we are used to being in charge and keeping track of everyone it’s easy to lose our focus on spiritual things. When we are always in control it’s even harder to sit back and let the Lord lead.
Today, I hope you’ll join me… find your quiet place and spend some time there listening to what God has to say, and even let him call the shots!
Lord, we need to be still and let you love us and lead us as we trust you to with total control. In Jesus name Amen.
