Nothing on the patio is appealing when the torrential storm showers of spring are falling. At times the pitter patter of rain on the roof or the song the tweet sings when it’s out on a limb getting drenched offers a unusual solace. As those dark skies come rolling in from the west hovering over our area, we tend to make sure we have our flashlight handy. Humidity is part of that darkness for me, I can’t breath and hate to sweat. This season already feels like it’s going to smother and cover me!
When the darkness of our overwhelming sin covers us it can also, smother us. It sneaks in like a light breeze blowing on a day when you could cut the air with a knife but quickly rolls over you like booming thunder bringing with it darkness. No one escapes, without a fight and a light.
Join me….and keep those batteries charged and nearby. During those dark times let’s keep our bibles open, and those prayers going!
God, we confess our sins and entrust our struggles to you, in hopes that we can see the light….the light of your only Son, our savior. Thank you for keeping us covered and smothered in your love and forgiveness. In Jesus name Amen.
