If you’ve read very many of these post’s you know by now that I usually always have some kind of a tune dancing around in my head. Well, as I sit here reading 1 Thessalonians 4: I notice in verse 11 it says that we as believers should “make it our ambition to lead a quiet life, we should mind our own business and work with our hands in order to win the respect of outsiders and not be dependent on anyone.”
As soon as I read this I started humming Kacey Musgraves song titled; Mind Your Own Biscuits and Life Will Be Gravy.

She is a talented and pretty forward gal…she does use a couple of little curse words in the song.
I still find her message to hold some good advice, that to me lines up with much of what’s being said in 1 Thes 4. If the Apostle Paul could read or hear this, I bet he’d wonder what gravy was!?
Life wasn’t gravy for those ahead of us spreading the Gospel of Jesus. Indeed they knew they would be persecuted for their faith, but they lived to share that faith with others. They were paving the way for us, giving the basic’s on how to live a pure, holy and blameless life that would bring glory and honor to God. It isn’t gravy for us today, but when we focus on our own living and focus less on how the neighbor’s live their lives we can then become the examples Paul talks about.
Join me today….as we take a look inward at what changes need to be made in our lives….then make some biscuits and mind your own gravy!
“God, please show us the area’s of our lives that do not bring you glory and honor. Give us the wisdom and courage to change so that we may mature in our faith and enjoy a closer relationship with you. In Jesus name Amen.”
