Exuberant chirping brings Hubs and I to the front porch. This Memorial Day morning as we sit in rocking chairs taking in a new view, I ask Him where his thoughts are. Since I’m holding my tablet he is reluctant to answer my question. Highly probable that he doesn’t want to be quoted, or possible his mind doesn’t want to go where my question will lead him. As a hungry cry from a distant calf echoes off in the trees my eyes scan the majority of flourishing leafed giants. Delighted by the sound of a woodpecker I rest my eyes on falling petals from a tree loaded with white blooms it’s name I find hard to pronounce.
As the petals fall they leave a silent beauty upon the dew sparkled grass. My own mind reflects on our fallen in war, and their families. Their lives were an adornment to others, and their memory like falling petals lie softly and tenderly on the hearts of those who loved them.
On the minds of those who served beside them …..they are silent.
Join us this day as we remember….
Beautiful Julie! !!!
