If you’re like me, I want to put on wrinkle cream before bed and wake up wrinkle free. Or I’d like to take a fat pill and wake up skinny, brush my short hair one time and wake up with long beautiful locks. I want effortless results overnight.
Why? because I’m busy, stretched, and mostly weak. I start out strong but when I realize the results are either impossible or going to require more than just a one time application, I fizzle.
Sometimes our faith is like this. We pray a few times a month, maybe just when things are going bad. We read our bible or attend church once in awhile, but we want overnight results. We want to be holy in a hurry.
It’s hard to prioritize and balance work, home, kids, spouse, self and God. There are many suggestions out there for us on this subject, but experimenting with a few seems to work for me, and maybe works now and not in a few months. I change it up.
But what remains the same is my time with God….daily.
Talking to God can be an all day long conversation, picking up here and there, never really ending, until your head hits the pillow. Reading his word, can be short, but studying needs to not be hurried, but it can be at different times or places each day. The results of the time you put into to your relationship with God results in spiritual growth, and nothing is more meaningful or satisfying.
Do you want overnight results or meaningful satisfying growth?
Good one Julie, I can certainly relate!
