Mornings on the Midwest prairie are spectacular, you can see for miles not missing an inch of the glorious wakening of the sky. It is the perfect backdrop when taking a nine hour trip, and spurs the heart to have a conversation with God. When I make this trip back home and my husband rides with me, he rarely talks. He could honestly make the whole trip without more than speaking five sentences. Me on the other hand I could talk the whole way. And this past weekend I made that trip with my friend, and she can testify that I talked the whole way!
While there I stayed with a very good friend and a sister in Christ. As we enjoyed making caramel apples, we were talking. She mentioned how good it was to talk to me, and she shared her heart about things she doesn’t share with anyone else, and said that since I had moved she didn’t have anyone to talk to, like we talk.
As soon as the words came out of her mouth, I thought of the many times I pick up the phone when I’m really ticked about something, to call someone to vent. Recently on one of those occasions God spoke to me, he said “talk to me”. I put the phone down and had spilled my heart out to the best counselor a girl could have.
I shared this with her, and we agreed that many times in our lives we are happy, sad, upset and we immediately want to share or vent with someone and pass up a conversation with our best friend Jesus.
He longs to hear from us, all day, everyday about everything including our feelings of anger, frustration as well as joys. Our goal in the day should be to stay in communication with him. By doing this we keep connected. He waits to hear from us and rejoices when we talk to him. As we share we can also listen, he does speak in many ways, we don’t want to miss out on what he has to say or the way he blesses us when we are keeping him close.
Today, before you pick up that phone to spill out your emotions give God a call, he’s waiting to hear from you.
