The other afternoon, I spent the whole day, and half the night on the patio. The wonderful break in the weather has me practically living outdoors. I raised the red umbrella and with all my supplies together on the table, I sat down letting my legs stick out to catch some rays. The yard was alive with tweets! I’m talking all kinds at the feeders, chirping, squawking and enjoying the new seed I put out. As I’m really zoning in on these birds, I catch one out of the corner of my eye flying pretty close above me, as he flys over a few drops of liquid land on my forearm. Uh what just happened here? This was the question going around in my head, as my eyes tried to follow the perpetrator. With the umbrella blocking my view, I could see a shadow of something land on the other side. As this creature stretched out, I could clearly see it was a bat! He quickly flew around the yard zigging and zagging, and I sweetly said to myself “oh cool, he’s eating all the mosquitoes”. No sooner did I think this when he took a quick turn in my direction barley missing my head as he flew under the umbrella. My chubby lil feet couldn’t move fast enough as I bolted for the house, and I admit I was making some kind of high pitched sound as I made it to the door. Inside I quickly washed my arm off with hot soapy water, and worried a little about seeing a bat in the daytime, hoping he didn’t just give me some kind of funk.
The whole thing had me chuckling all day, at how I was being so serious out there reading my bible, thanking God for his creation, watching my tweets, and listening for Gods voice. I’m pretty sure when the liquid hit my arm and as I bolted in the house I heard him laughing.
Psalm 104 is an excellent chapter, that paints a beautiful picture of God’s relationship with nature. Verse 24 it says the earth is full of his creatures. I’m pretty sure one of them was sent to me today, to shake things up a little.
Take a little time today and enjoy creation and it’s creatures!
