Driving in the rain is a challenge. Driving amongst construction in the rain is an even bigger challange. When the greater part of your working day is spent behind the wheel of a cruiser you tend to encounter all sorts of driving conditions that lead to challenges.
One particular challenge is keeping your composure when you see or experience others driving in a way that does not suit you. Now this way could be dangerous, but often times than not they are just driving differently than yourself.
My LEO hubby and son both have “road rage”. I’ve ridden with them on their beat in their cruiser and in our personal vehicles, and folks it ain’t pretty. When I’m the passenger under their control, I need three things; prayer, ear plugs and duct tape. Before entering the vehicle I begin my silent prayer for safety as well as medical coverage on the stroke I’m pretty sure my LEO’s will have will driving. And let’s not forget forgiveness for the language. I then need duct tape to place over my mouth so that I too don’t lose composure in overcorrecting their rantings. Lastly, ear plugs are a must even though I can still hear their booming volume, as I watch the veins stick out in their necks, ear plugs help soften the boom.
I admit that when I’m behind the wheel I too am challenged by the conditions. But I’m usually too busy putting on lipstick to notice.
Colossians 3:8-13 reminds us that we need to rid ourselves of anger, rage, filthy talk while being compassionate, kind and forgiving each other of our grievances as God forgives us.
Are you challenged by your surrounding conditions today?
