Summer Love (Sizzle Fizzle)

Reclining on the patio watching the sun melt into the evening sky. Breathing is slightly easier this evening due to a breeze moving the humidity around. I’m just taking a break from the full day of activities. Kicking back enjoying the soft sound of the windchimes I could almost fall asleep. This peace doesn’t last long as my daughter meanders out to the chair next to me flinging her legs over the arm rest and bringing up her concerns over a recent love relationship. The topic of her conversation is familiar and consuming. As I listen to her share her heart and thoughts, I silently pray for her.

Love relationships at any age and stage in life can be tricky. New love can start out with a sizzle like a fourth of July sparkler , but too often it quickly or slowly fizzles out leaving at least one person disappointed.

As I think hard on our conversation, I look to scripture and share this encouragement with my girl. Ecclesiastes 12:1 Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”.
I ask my girl to remember her first love God, he will never leave her empty, disappointed or longing for something more. If she can keep this focus in her youth it will allow her to find pleasure for years to come, even when the sizzle becomes a fizzle.

Has Your Sizzle become a Fizzle?
